What is film without a well composed score?

Multi-award winning film composer Stephen Rennicks (Good Luck to You Leo Grande, Conversations with Friends, Room) will interview the IFTA nominated composer for screen, Sarah Lynch and Music Supervisor Juliet Martin on their work for Element Pictures comedy-drama The Dry.

The Dry charts the story of Shiv, who is returning to her family in Ireland having embarked on her path to get sober. An emotional and at times hilarious look at family relationships, music plays a huge role in establishing the tone and how we relate to the main characters in this series.

This panel will examine the creative collaboration between composer and music supervisor, how the score and soundtrack helped to develop the narrative and characters and the various approaches considered in achieving the final musical results.

In this Masterclass with Anna Rice, IFTA nominated Screen Composer, Lyricist, Arranger and Music Producer, will discuss the process of collaboration between composer and film maker using recent examples from her work. She explore how to develop creative ideas and the steps and fixes throughout the process of composition and delivery which can lead to optimal results.

This masterclass is aimed at filmmakers and composers and is a unique opportunity to learn from Anna's wealth of knowledge and experience from her work both in Ireland and internationally as composer and within the music department. Moderated by Sarah Glenanne CEO of the Screen Composers Guild of Ireland.

Hope to see you all at the Cinematographers' Party and Programme Reveal on Wednesday, at the Crane Lane. 6pm - 8pm.
